There are many typically Swiss things, and cat ladders are one of them. Found across cities and countryside, from simple wooden steps to customised constructions of absurd proportions, they reveal an overlooked layer of everyday architecture in Switzerland.
Artist and photographer Francisco Paco Carrascosa and art historian Matthias Oberli document these structures throughout Switzerland, combining visual research with conversations about their use and construction. The result, shaped into a distinct visual narrative by designer Emanuel Tschumi, sits somewhere between photography, architecture, and pop-inflected everyday culture.
