Endo Anaconda: Im Gespinst in dem ich wohne

For the first time, Endo Anaconda can be discovered as a poet — something he had always been, not only in his songwriting. Im Gespinst in dem ich wohne brings together texts that Anaconda was working on until the very end for a planned volume of poetry, complemented by numerous additional poems in standard German from his literary estate.

Anaconda’s poetry is as untamed and rhythmically driven as his songs, yet at the same time it is restless, searching, intimate. The poems deal with loneliness, euphoria, rage at the world and love for it, love in all its forms, addiction, ageing, Anaconda’s two homelands — Switzerland and Austria — and, not least, language itself. They engage with literary traditions such as Expressionism; echoes of Dadaism and Concrete Poetry resonate throughout. Despite their unmistakable seriousness, Anaconda’s poems are full of humour and linguistic wit. The book invites readers to immerse themselves once more in the exuberant imagery of a major literary fantasist and romantic.
