Fascination with Japan: The Collection of Albert Anker

The Centre Albert Anker is an artist house and museum that makes the life and work of Albert Anker accessible to the public within the context of international art. The accompanying catalogue to the temporary exhibition Fascination with Japan. The Collection of Albert Anker sheds light on a previously unknown group of Japanese works on paper from the Centre’s own collection.

The project originates from research conducted by Hans Bjarne Thomsen, Professor and, since 2007, Chair for East Asian Art History at the Universität Zürich, together with doctoral researcher Saskia Goldschmid, who present their findings to the public for the first time in this catalogue.
