Neutral Colors is the independent magazine of the Japanese design studio and riso printer of the same name run by Katoh Naonori. The magazine stands out because of its mix of offset and risograph printing. The second issue of Neutral Colors revolves around the theme of “school”. For instance, a story of visiting an elementary school for the first time in decades, or a look at the origins of education for the disabled at the Yosa no Umi Support School. Other topics addressed on its wildly colourful pages include the hip-hop scene in Bhutan, Steiner education in Germany, life in an old dormitory at Kyoto University, Icelandic education, and an elementary school in Kagoshima that is set to be closed.
