Tomo Ando: Tracing Lines

A collection of works by painter Tomo Ando, born in Osaka and now based in Tokyo.

Plants and trees drawn in the gentle tones of coloured pencil, flowers of all sizes, and street-corner scenes spread freely across full double-page spreads. The white space left between the coloured-pencil strokes gives the works a unique sense of openness and air, evoking richly natural landscapes and a feeling as if you can almost hear the sounds they produce.

Along the edges of the pages, the colours used are printed in block shapes like colour codes; when you flip through the book, it feels like watching the seasons change.
